[PIX TO PROVE IT] CHICAGO!

by Amos Mac on April 18, 2012

Brontez!

Party Photos from Original Plumbing’s Sister Spit After Party / Beauty Bar / Chicago / Saturday April 14th, 2012

I must admit I was a little nervous when I walked in and saw a deeply hetero bridal shower getting their nails done right before our event was to start. Of course it only took about 10 minutes for the Beauty Bar to get flooded by queers… and I think the bridal party even stayed and enjoyed! Not that I noticed. I have no photo documentation of said “bridal party” because I was too busy swirling around and  shooting all the amazingness on the dance floors. Yes, “floors.” There were two rooms, separated by the performance stage.

This party was hosted by Mx. Justin Vivian Bond (who performed as well), with sets by Rocco Katastrophe, Zebra Katz and Njena Reddd Foxxx, DJ’s Brontez Purnell (FAG School, Younger Lovers, Gravy Train!!!) and Chicago’s own Black Gold (of Queerer Park).

Can you spot the likes of Cynthia Plaster Caster and ”Mr. Transman 2010″ Kit Yan? And, like, a ton of other artists, writers, filmmakers and community people? I know you can.

How To Wrap A Transsexual For Christmas

by Amos Mac December 25, 2011

Rocco and I are at my mother’s old (haunted, in my opinion) house for the Christmas holiday, where we are sharing the attic bedroom and eating food non-stop while refusing to take off our pajamas all day. We were so inspired by “How To Wrap A Cat For Christmas” on YouTube that we made our [...]

FAMILY MATTERS

by Amos Mac September 12, 2011

Oh, FAMILY MATTERS. A perfect throw-back title to the long-awaited family issue. Before the first issue of Orignal Plumbing even came out, a young single father contacted me asking me when we would make an issue celebrating and discussing trans families. It took a moment to work out all the details, but here we are, [...]
