OP’s first ever Toronto Release @ The Beaver!

by Amos Mac on July 8, 2010

Look who's getting a hug! Ayden from OP#2!

Last weekend we finally took an OP release party off of US soil! Rocco and I packed up our magazines, scantily clad posters of OP boys, and various see-through tank tops (it is summer, after all) and boarded the disco in the sky (Virgin America, naturally) to Toronto!

When I first arrived at the party location, The Beaver, I could’ve sworn it was jut a cute little cafe. It reminded me of a cozy bar and restaurant for artsy queers that you’d find in many San Francisco or Brooklyn neighborhoods… but once the sun went down and DJs Nic Red and CPI arrived, the place was transformed into some sort of speakeasy with a dance floor situation, with a huuuuge backyard. The turn out was incredible and Canadians are just so nice and smiley!  Since it was a day before Toronto Pride (and funny enough our release party was on Canada Day, so we kept saying Happy Canada Day! Happy Canada Day!) SO MANY OUT OF TOWNERS were there, as well as a large chunk of the Toronto trans community. A great time was had by all. Pictures to prove it.

Toronto boys are cute and not afraid to smile for photos.

Drew DeVeaux; Toronto treat

Saul came all the way from Brooklyn to go-go!

Still smiling
